Roy McCalister, Jr. was born and raised in Detroit, MI, is an alumnus of Detroit Mackenzie High School, Married to Polly Ann, and have been married for 32 years.
I am a loving father and grandfather to two sons, two granddaughters, and two grandsons.
I am a member and Deacon at Cedar Christian Church. In my spare time I enjoy traveling and listening to Jazz.
In 2004 after 23 ½ years of military service, I retired from the United States Army and Army Reserves, Criminal Investigative Division (CID). In 2006 after 26 plus years of service, I retired from the Detroit Police Department (DPD), as a Detective Lieutenant. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, and as a Detroit police officer, I still had the urge to serve the city that I love. Roy decided to run for Detroit City council.
